The alert was given in 2022 by the Opera's General Management, but ever since 2019 ecological issues have been finding their way into the institution. In 2022, the challenge is to organise ourselves to better understand and do better: to understand the environmental impact of the Opera's activities and to explore measures to limit it. Organisation must be cross-functional: the sustainable workshop is being set up to fulfil the mission of raising awareness and implementing actions that will gradually transform the daily life of the Opera, its staff and its audiences.
Faced with a complex, volatile and uncertain issue, the Opera has defined pragmatic areas for action - food, waste, energy efficiency, transport, awareness-raising - while taking a holistic approach. In order to deal with the urgency of the situation with a view to the long term, our actions are structured around cooperation with committed partners. The Sustainable Innovative Destination label, the ARVIVA association, the Ecological Transition Steering Committee of the Réunion des opéras de France and the Association française des Orchestres are just some of the areas in which ecological transition is being worked on.
