Discover opera
Opera is a complex but surprisingly accessible art form. Its multi-disciplinary nature, the subjects it covers, the opportunities it provides for artistic practice and the social experience of going on a cultural outing make this art form a breeding ground for educational resources. The "Discover opera" programs cover all possible educational approaches, from awareness-raising to in-depth study.
Journey in 4 or 5 stages:
1. Rdv culture (lyrical)
Class registration is subject to the presence of teachers at the preparatory session which take place approximately two months before the educational stages, on Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm at the Opéra (1, rue Sainte- Catherine 54000 Nancy).
During school time
2. Visit the Opéra: 1 hour 30 minute slots at 9am and 10.30am on weekdays.
3. Stage rehearsals: 1 h 30 at 2 pm or 3.30 pm or, for certain operas, a 1 h musicology session in class.
4. Optional: meeting with the Opera Choir and/or Orchestra.
Outside school hours - we reserve seats for you at every public opera performance:
5. Performance at the Opéra, with French surtitles.
For a complete educational experience, an artistic, technical or scientific presentation in class is highly recommended.
Price €4 per person
Please note: access to performances that are closed to the box office for schools that are geographically distant may be free of charge.
Unless otherwise indicated, teacher training sessions take places at the Opéra on Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm.
