Taking Haydn's oratorio as a challenge to creationists, Kevin Barz's staging contrasts biblical Genesis with a scientifically founded creation story. In direct confrontation with the libretto and Haydn's music, which exalts divine creation, it highlights the scientific discoveries of the last 2,500 years and shows how the universe, the Earth and mankind actually came into being. We go back to the beginnings of the universe, and meet illustrious scientists who will be interpreted by the Opéra national de Lorraine choir.
