In this programme, which inaugurates Maud Le Pladec's new direction, you'll find two outstanding pieces from the company's repertoire in an evening that will showcase the full talent of the 24 dancers of the CCN - Ballet de Lorraine.
On the one hand, Australian Adam Linder presents Acid Gems, a form that explores the possible encounter between dances, styles and influences, allowing them to brush against each other, to cross paths, in order to reveal as much as possible their porosity, their fragility, and the poetry that flows from them. Inspired by Balanchine's Les Joyaux, in which he paid tribute to three great schools of classical dance (French, Russian and American) and their respective specificities, Adam Linder examines the vocabulary of ballet, the better to observe its possible evolutions and its anchorage in the contemporary.
Then, with a Folia, Marco da Silva Ferreira explores the notion of ecstasy, the joy and trance that emerge from a moment of dance shared by a group. In Portugal, the folia is a fast, lively 15th-century folk dance originally danced by shepherds. The historical traces that mention it all speak of a festive atmosphere where everyone lets loose completely, free from social conventions linked to gender or class. It is this idea that interests the Portuguese choreographer, who seeks to translate it by comparing the Portuguese folia with the nightclub dances of our time.
