This season, the Opéra national de Lorraine, under the musical direction of its choral conductor Guillaume Fauchère, is creating a community choir for the first time. Sing Alongs are groups that bring together amateur, semi-professional and professional choirs so that everyone can enjoy singing together. This season, the Opéra's Sing Along will focus on Haydn's Creation, a work which will also be presented on the Opéra stage. For five months, choirs as diverse as Lunéville music school, Ars Musica, Choralliance, Ensemble Leszczynski, the Conservatoire Régional du Grand Nancy voice choir and Gradus ad Musicam will be working on selected extracts. The Opera's ambition is to create a musical community and offer non-professional opera artists a place to express themselves. However, the primary aim of this community is to give access to musical practice to women and men who are far from it because of their life situation.
As part of this, the Opera is initiating a new partnership with the Association d'Accueil et Réinsertion Sociale (ARS), which supports refugees and asylum seekers. Every week since October, the opera has had a choir of around fifteen people sing in order to introduce them to the performing arts and invite them to join the large community choir.
